Upper Stechford

B8 - Grid reference SP125879

A tiny hamlet west of the Cole on the borders of Little Bromwich and Castle Bromwich manors. While Stechford was part of the manor of Yardley, Upper Stechford lay on the other side of the River Cole, which was the manor boundary. The name was originally Stichford ie. 'sticky ford' and referred to the river crossing rather than to the village which developed around the station and later at the top of Albert Road.

See Stechford.
