This name is popularly used for the busy linear shopping centre along Alum Rock Road, which is not in Alum Rock but in Saltley.

 

There is a wide variety of shops here many of them Asian businesses. Throughout the 20th century local people have spoken of going 'down (or up) the Rock' to do their shopping.
