Gorsey Bank

B44 - Grid reference SP074925

A location at the junction of College Road and Kingstanding Road is shown on the 1834 Ordnance Survey map as Gorsey Bank. The name probably derives from gorst, the medieval name for gorse or furze, a shrub which survives on quick-draining land that is often less suitable for agriculture.
