Eachway
B45 - Grid reference SO988767
Etchey: first record 1795
Eachway is marked on the 1887 Ordnance Survey map on Eachway Lane south of the junction with Rednal Hill Lane and at the foot of the northern slopes of Rednal Hill. No buildings are shown here at that time. The name is recorded too late to determine its origin. However, it may possibly derive from Old English echels meaning 'land added on (to an estate, probably elsewhere)' + (ge)haeg meaning 'enclosure'.
